Secular Idaho Picnic (6/18/2011)

Highway Clean Up (6/12/2011)

National Day of Prayer Protest (May 5)

Highway Cleanup: (10/17/2010)

Nick Cesare, Lloyd Lowe, and Tim Dicks ready to tackle some highway trash.
A big THANK YOU to all who came out to help with the bi-annual highway cleanup on October 17th. Everyone who showed up had volunteered at least once in the past, so everyone knew the routine and, amazingly, chose to do it again! It's really not all that bad and is actually good excercise. Additionally, this time we had a nice surprise in what we found on the side of the road. Three of us, each separately, found $5 bills! What a nice surprise that people are actually "throwing money" at our section of road! Hmmm...

Meet-an-Atheist:

Idaho Atheists is experimenting with an "after hours" meeting event. After the regularly scheduled Secular Idaho meeting from 6-7 PM on the second Tuesday of each month, some of us will be migrating to Tom Graineys on 6th Street to meet other fellow Atheists for some mixing of spirits and debate. We held a trial run on Tuesday, October 12 and a couple of the attendees even stayed up until 1:00 AM engaged in "thoughtful philosophical retrospective" ... or whatever you might like to call it. We don't anticipate it being this late every month, but folks are welcome to stay as late if they want!

So, feel free to come join us for the official "Meet-an-Atheist" kick-off event at Tom Graineys on Tuesday, Nov. 9th, from 7:30 PM to whenever...

For more information visit our Idaho Atheist Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=108886952508179&v=info) and thanks much to Mike Lee for setting this up!

Death and Dying Panel:

TO: Interested Parties
FROM: Gary L. Bennett

As in past years, I will be participating as "the token Atheist" in BSU Prof. Neil Kugler's annual "death & dying panel". The panel provides students in Prof. Kugler's health sciences class a chance to hear the different religious perspectives on death and dying so that these students will be better able to deal with a diverse clientele. In past panels the following faith groups have been represented: Islam, Catholicism, LDS, Judaism, Presbyterianism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. In the past, these panel discussions (which typically last 1-2 hours) have been open to the public.

The Fall 2010 death & dying panel will be held in BSU's Multipurpose Classroom Building, Room 201 on Monday, 25 October 2010, starting at 1800 (6 PM). Afterwards, several of us have been known to repair to Flying M for an
espresso or two (which I have been known to buy if the group isn't too large for my slim wallet -- otherwise it's "Dutch Treat"!). :-)
